Translation, writing and pronunciation
of Chinese ideograms

The following tools are intended for your personal use, without commitment of the author.

There are approximately 21.000 Chinese ideograms. Each of them is represented by an unicode code. In an electronic document (text, web page, e-mail), the unicode code of an ideogram can be found with the clipboard, the memo pad and an hexadecimal editor (see the tutorial 03: How to find the code unicode of an ideogram).

The tool 1-1 below allows to find, all the "pinyins" (phonetic transcriptions in Latin writing), associated with a given ideogram. When a pinyin is known, look for the corresponding ideogram in a Chinese-English dictionary to find its translation.

In a paper document (book, magazine), it is not possible to find the unicode code of an ideogram. The tool 1-2 below allows to find an ideogram, and its code unicode, with help of its radical (key). This tool uses the method of classification according to 214 radicals " Kangxi". Some of these 214 radicals possess variants.

The tool 2 below allows you to train, write and pronounce 100 ideograms that are frequently encountered.

Remark
If the display of a Chinese ideogram is not correct, it is certainly because your computer is not configured to display the Asian languages, or because the Chinese characters polices (.ttf files) installed in the Windows "Fonts" directory of your computer do not take into account this ideogram. (To solve this problem, see the corresponding tutorials, in the Tutorials: Chinese section). The indication "not found Pinyin " (tool 1-1) means that the ideogram was not found in the dictionary ( ideogram very rarely used, or component of other ideograms).
